Us
We are a collective of chess players, teachers and hxrstorians who enjoy playing this ancient and gorgeous game in community centres, art galleries, libraries, bookshops, cafes and members’ clubs in London.
Our chess club’s statement
We create clubs for the chess global majority: queer, migrant, womxn, black and brown, disabled players and anyone else unrepresented in chess.
All levels of chess are welcome, with a special emphasis on beginners and those who would like to learn the rules and play their first games.
We avoid elitism or gatekeeping – nobody knows everything, and we’re all here to learn.
We take responsibility – we all shape the club's culture.
We are mindful of how we give feedback – kindness first, always.
We respect pronouns and identities – always ask, never assume.
