Designed for players who want to explore chess at a deeper level.

  • Level 1: Beginner (Weeks 1–4)

    Objective: Learn the rules, piece movements, and basic strategies.

    Week 1: Introduction to Chess

    • History and origins of chess

    • Chessboard setup & coordinates (ranks/files)

    • Names and values of pieces

    Week 2: Piece Movement

    • How each piece moves (pawn, rook, bishop, queen, knight, king)

    • Special moves: castling, en passant, promotion

    Week 3: Opening the Game

    • Basic opening principles (control centre, develop pieces, king safety)

    • Common opening mistakes to avoid

    Week 4: Check, Checkmate & Stalemate

    • Check vs. checkmate

    • Stalemate and draws

    • Simple checkmates (e.g., king + queen vs king)

  • Level 2: Intermediate (Weeks 5–8)

    Objective: Build on tactical awareness and pattern recognition.

    Week 5: Tactics I

    • Pins, forks, skewers

    • Double attack, discovered attack

    • Introduction to tactics puzzles

    Week 6: Endgames I

    • Opposition and basic king + pawn endgames

    • Checkmating with king + rook vs king

    • Pawn promotion techniques

    Week 7: Opening Theory

    • Explore a few common openings:

      • e4 (King’s Pawn Game)

      • d4 (Queen’s Pawn Game)

      • Sicilian Defense, Italian Game

    • Understanding opening traps

    Week 8: Tactics II + Tournament Simulation

    • Mixed tactical puzzles

    • Practice games with feedback

  • Level 3: Advanced (Optional Weeks 9–12)

    Objective: Deepen strategic play and prepare for rated or club tournaments.

    Week 9: Positional Strategy

    • Outposts, weak squares, open files

    • Space, tempo, pawn structure

    Week 10: Endgames II

    • Lucena and Philidor positions

    • Rook and pawn endgames

    • Minor piece endgames

    Week 11: Middlegame Planning

    • Forming a plan

    • Attacking vs. defending

    • Using imbalances to your advantage

    Week 12: Game Analysis & Review

    • Analysing famous games

    • Reviewing student games

    • Next steps: joining clubs, tournaments, online play
